With the lousy weather, we decided to give Fraser Island a miss, but all was not lost as we still had the theme parks to do.
Who are we to resist the call of theme parks rides, like lambs to the slaughter we headed for the Gold Coast. We found a campsite on the direct bus route to the parks and prepared for the ridefest.
Achually we only made two parks, Movie world and Dreamworld. It was too cold for Wet & Wild and we didn't fancy watching seals, dolphins & sharks playing circus acts.
At dreamworld we experienced the 'Tower of Terror' that shot you out at 157 kph, up a ramp and back again. They also had the 'Giant Drop' which took you up 150m and dropped you down like an arrow. At Movieworld, besides seeing Batman, Marilyn Monroe and Buddy Holly, the 'Lethal Weapon' ride was immense (a seated rollercoaster). The 'Wild Wild West' ride took us backwards at one point before we got shot down a wall of water.
We had a sad moment of fame in Special Effect show at movie world. Steve was selected to be 'Superman' tights and all. This was interesting as he had only just bought a 'Superman' t-shirt (fate or what!). I was selected to do some sound engineering to Lethal Weapon. It was a right laugh, especially Steve in his 'Superman' suit. What a guy!!!
